Just Got Listed on the Huffingtonpost.com

Hey Everyone,

  1. I am not going to take this personally, maybe I should. But I commented on your piece in the HuffPo today about your experience almost getting blown up by that Islamic terrorist, saying that like the last dozen or so terrorists, this one was a Muslim too. For that oen, HuffPo, after having an account there for 2 yead banned me.

  2. Great piece over at HuffPo! You are quite a writer (due, no doubt, in large part to your being a genial and observant passenger)! I felt like I was there as I read it.

Hope the telling of your story over and over again (as I'm certain the opportunity to do so will arise - over and over again) will not deter you from your currently chosen path in Uganda. Sounds like pretty interesting and fulfilling work! Particularly since here, in America, we tend to take flipping on a light switch so-o-o for granted! The concept - that you are working to provide electricity to 80% of East Africans who have NONE - is surely lost on most of us.

This snippet from the post was particularly revealing, and seems to speak to where your heart is (seems because no one can really "know" someone they've never met):

"From what I know the story is particularly tragic, because on a continent where most people had so little he seemed to have so much. He made up an elite group of perhaps .1% of the population. Not only did he study abroad he studied to be an engineer. He could have come back to Nigeria and put his skills to use in a wide array of fields: agriculture, health, transportation, telecommunications, he could have created solutions that would help some of the poorest people on earth."

Pretty commendable thought process but, we never really know if the "having" is all there is for some folks, now do we?

I'm glad you got home to your Mama safely. And I appreciate your sharing what happened on that plane before the media got hold of it and started twisting things!

And I hope your coincidental presence on that flight, at that time, that led to your post, that brought me here - will help bring attention to the "giving back" you're doing in Uganda.

As a Black American woman, I wish you could bottle some of that REAL "giving-back-itude" and make it available for my kinfolks here! It'd be like flipping on that light switch after never having had any electricity at all! Just what we need, particularly in these times of Obama (Yeah, I know you worked on his campaign - to each his own. Besides, nobody agrees on everything!). :-)

Stay well young man! Your Mama should be proud! And write some more about Village Energy (I tried looking up the company - are you a part of the GVEP?). I'm no investor, but if I were, I'm sure I would!

I'll try to keep up with what the company's doing via the blog. Soon, you're going to really need a blog administrator/writer so there'll be more to read, see and hear about the work you're doing! Just sayin'.

After this HuffPo exposure though, I can't see how you don't get an increase in blog traffic, so get ready! :-)

Enjoy your holidays and safe travel back!
